Animatronic Spider
This interactive spider robot was created for the Boos and Bites Halloween Night Market to showcase the creative intersection of robotics and community engagement. Designed and built in just four weeks, the team developed custom joint mechanics in CAD, programmed servo control using Arduino, and 3D-printed modular limbs for full articulation. Students gained hands-on experience in mechanical design, electronics, and team collaboration—culminating in a live demo where over 100 community members, including kids, engaged with the spider in action.

Assembling the spider
Students are assembling the animatronic spider by connecting servo motors and wiring them to a control board. This step is crucial for integrating the spider’s mechanical limbs with its electronic control system.
In this clip, the animatronic spider is fully assembled and performing coordinated movements using programmed servo motors. The demonstration showcases successful integration of mechanical design, Arduino control, and team-built motion sequences.
